Grace Academy boys soccer finished in a 1-1 tie with La Conner after playing through regulation and two 5-minute overtime periods yesterday afternoon. WIth a new league scoring format this year, games can end in ties instead of going to penalty kicks. After lopsided losses to start the season, Grace came out with a lot of energy and toughness and scored first in the 15th minute after some perserverance by Nick Lenhardt paid off with his 3rd goal of the season. Grace went into halftime up 1-0 but knowing the second half would provide challenges as the first half wind advantage would switch to La Conner. We would give up the equalizing goal in the 49th minute off of a long throw-in. Right at the beginning of the second overtime period we had a great scoring opportunity that missed just outside the left post and we settled for the 1-1 tie. Grace will finally begin their 5-game homestand this coming Wednesday at 3:30 against Coupeville. Our home games are at Strawberry Fields in Marysville.
